Use any size of carton, from an individual sized lunch carton to a half gallon. Cut out a door and some windows and cover entirely with black construction paper. FALL LEAF MOBILE
Create fall leaf cutouts from construction paper, fine cardboard or felt. Tape the leaves to thin ribbons, string or twine. Attach each string to a small branch and hang it where it can spin freely for all to enjoy!

YUMMY!!! Give these cookies a try - they will become one of your favorites.

Butterscotch Oatmeal Cookies

3/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups rolled oats
1 12oz pkg butterscotch chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees
In a large bowl beat the butter and sugars together. Add the eggs and vanilla, beating well.
Stir together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and stir until blended. Stir in the oats and the butterscotch chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges begin to brown.

I really haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I know I haven't blogged, facebooked or even emailed much during the past three months. It's been a very challenging time for my husband and myself. The first week of April I was diagnosed with colon cancer. Yes, cancer. It was a very emotional, frightening time for us and the worse was waiting for test results. I was immediately scheduled for surgery and 4 days before I was to be admitted to the hospital, my husband, Clyde had a ladder slide out from underneath him when he was about 12 feet in the air. He ended up compressing a couple vertebraes, badly bruised his whole left side and was put in a back brace for 3 months. Needless to say, the following couple weeks were awful and comical at the same time. Having both Clyde and myself down was not what we had planned, but we made it through and are so thankful for all the many friends and family who were constantly there to help us.

I am one of the fortunale ones - the cancer had not spread to my lympth nodes so the surgeon was able to remove it. I know many prayers were answered and I am so very grateful that I can go on with my life and not spend the next 6 months taking chemo. I urgently plea for each of you and your loved ones to take the time out of your busy lives to have your yearly exams done . . . it just might save your life.

I am very excited about being back in the studio and doing what I love. Life is so precious and families are worth a million. Let's Celebrate!!!

Christmas is a magical time of year. For kids, the magic comes from getting their picture taken with Santa, making a Christmas list, shaking gifts to guess what's inside, and waking up at the crack of dawn Christmas morning. As I get older, the magic comes from a different place. I treasure the familiar songs, familiar faces, and fond memories that surround us each year, comfy as my favorite sweater. Each year, giving becomes much more enjoyable than getting. The magic comes from being with the people I love. I hope you and yours have a truly wonderful Christmas.

I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer! Clyde and I are just wrapping up our 3 week Germany visit with our son Chet and his family. It has definitely been a very memorable one - it's not every family that has two little girls breaking arms within two days of each other. That changed some plans since it was necessary for Chet and Mindy to spend 4 days at the hospital and doctor offices. They had check ups yesterday and it looks like all is well for us to head to Garmish tomorrow. Here's hoping! It's the one place that Chet really wanted to take us while we were here and we're barely going to be able to squeak it in before we fly out on Monday. After being in a foreign land for 2 weeks, we both agree that we have never been more grateful for our home country, we have so many blessings and so much to be proud of as an American. We've had a great trip, many wonderful experiences, fantastic food to enjoy and so many awesome things to photograph, but we will be happy to be back in Idaho. See you in a week!

Does someone have a printer that uses Epson #78 ink cartridges? If so, this is your lucky day! Our Epson printer died this month and believe it or not Clyde was not able to fix it. We had just purchased 6 brand new cartridges plus there are all the cartridges that were in the printer so if someone can use this particular ink cartridge, give us a call. They are all yours just for stopping by the studio and picking them up.

Newborn Models Needed

Babies are being born every day and we are needing some newborn models no older then 2 weeks. Most of the time, Moms don't have their newborns photographed until they are about 4 to 6 weeks, by then they are too old to pose in the dreamy, sleepy baby poses that we want to update our displays with and include in our product line. Please send any new Mom our direction - there is no cost for the session and no obligation to buy plus Mom gets a FREE 8x10 of her favorite pose. Thank you so much for your help. Family from Germany

It has been a great week visiting with Chet, Mindy, Emma, Maycie and Morgan. We've had a lot to catch up on since it has been three years since we last saw them. Parting on Friday was still teary eyed but a whole lot easier since we knew we would be seeing them again in June. That's only 2 months away!

Here's our three adorable granddaughters who came from Germany to visit this past week. Aren't they cuties? We had so much fun visiting, playing and photographing. Since we still have our Fairy set up, the girls also got to dress up like fairies. They had a ball finding the butterflies, holding the birds and dancing like a fairy.

Just a reminder the Fairy set will be up until the 15th of May and then it'll be another year before it returns. With us being so busy with Seniors and Dance groups, I only have about 5 or 6 more time slots available for the fairy session. Call soon before they are taken.

Birthday Fun!

Birthday sessions are always a lot of FUN no matter what age, but the first year birthday is such a special one. Here's Kissera all decked out in one of her very stylish birthday dresses before we let her loose on her cake. She loved the icing and quickly got into enjoying it - right down to a face plant on top of her cake . . . . not only once but about 3 or 4 times. She had the cutest little frosting face!

Olivia was our second little birthday girl this week and she, too, just turned one. Her grandmother sent her an authentic, original design Korean outfit to celebrate her first birthday. Isn't she adorable? Olivia had the cutest Tinkerbell cake. She was a little timid at first and it took some coaxing from her Mom, but she soon got the idea and enjoyed demolishing her cake.

Speaking of Birthdays! I also have an April birthday and this year I received the most awesome birthday surprise! I just thought Clyde and I were going down to Pocatello Powersports this past weekend to take pictures of our grandsons, CJ, Chase and Chance on their motorbikes, but when I opened the upstairs doors - there were all seven of my kids standing there - it was the most Fantastic surprise I have ever had. They haven't been in one place at the same time for about 10 years, but right there in front of me were: Chet from Germany, Ann from Portland, Clark from Washington, Cami from Utah and of course, Chad, Chelsey and Chris from Idaho! My family had been planning this big event for at least a month. It's so hard to believe that not one person let the cat out of the bag - I was totally clueless. What an emotional day. We had so much fun visiting and enjoying each other's company. Thank you so much to all of my family and friends who made the day so special! It was truly a wonderful birthday celebration!

Fairyland Enchantment

Bunnies of Fun

The Bunnies were a highlight of all of our events this past month. This year we had the cutest, biggest and most gentlest bunnies yet. The children adored them and if they didn't want to hold them, the bunnies just sat on the bench right next to them. We had a great time with the kids and bunnies!

Print Competition

I'm not sure what happened to March, it came and went so fast and I know I did a lousy job keeping our blog and facebook up to date so I have now gotten another someone to help me do just that. Between the two of us, we will keep you informed about what's happening at the studio.
One of the big things that happened in March was our Idaho Professional Photography Convention in Boise. It's always fun to spend a few days visiting with fellow photographers from around the state, listening and learning from great speakers and entering the annual print competition. This year, I had four entries that placed.
"Pucker Up Baby" was taken from little Emma's 6 month session. She was so full of expression! Her image placed 2nd in the Portrait Category.

I had just finished photographing the dancers for the "Wizard of Oz" advertising posters when I decided at the last minute to enter that image into the Commercial category. I'm glad that I did, it ended up placing 2nd. The production is the 14th and 15th of May but I know the time is not right. I just added a time so I could complete the image for competition but there will be lots of posters around town to let you know the exact time.

The following image was taken in Ohio when we were visiting our son Chet and his family. We had planned on spending the day at the "Historic Mansion" but when we arrived we found out that they were closed. Soooo disappointing . . . but as we looked around we saw a young man taking care of the gardens so we decided to ask him if we could spend some time photographing on the grounds and to our surprise, he said "of course" and even let us into a couple of the private gardens. It was our lucky day and the best thing about it - there were no people to work around and I was able to photograph until we wore out our two little granddaughters, their Dad and their Grandpa.

This image, titled "Waiting" took first in the Unclassified Category and to my delight it also received the highly coveted Kodak Gallery Award and can now be submitted into the National Gallery Award competition this summer. I was extremely excited about the Gallery Award.

Idaho has a Finished Product Category so I took this Canvas Wrap off of our wall as we went out the door to enter into that category. It ended up being the highest scoring print and placed first.

All in all, I think we did fairly good this year. We always appreciate your willingness to let us enter your images in competition and our other advertising pieces. We have the best clients around!

Almost Back

Well, we're almost back to reality. It's been a fun week tho. We enjoyed visiting with our family, the warm sunshine and no snow, but yet it will be nice to get back into a routine again. We look forward to photographing the Valentine dances this coming week plus all of the little ones who have booked in for wings n tutus or their birthday sessions. It's going to be a FUN month!

Today's post is going to be short and sweet. We are actually in Arizona visiting with family. It's suppose to be 72 degrees today. Boy, are we going to enjoy it. We're on our way to Mexico this morning for a couple of days. Looking forward to taking a lot of pictures of beautiful sunsets that I keep hearing about and then whatever else catches my eye. Will be back in the studio on Tuesday, all refreshed and ready to photograph your little ones in wings n tutus. What a fun month it's going to be!

We had so much fun photographing the little angels that came to us this past week and they were such little troopers as we adjusted, rearranged and fitted each of the tutus, hats and hair pieces to the size of the child. These little ones have been a such a big help to us and I will try to get the rest of the images posted here soon. As you can see, we do photograph the little ones with and without the Angel wings, in close up and full length. You will have a variety of poses to choose from and we are putting together some awesome, new products.

We ended up going to Logan this weekend for the very rare opportunity of being able to watch all 4 of our grandsons skate on their hockey teams on one weekend. That has never happened before and it has been so much fun. We're going to stay and watch the big rival game tonight in Ogden.

Thank you to all you Moms who responded to our model Angel request. We are so excited about the little ones that were able to schedule in with us this week so we can get all the bugs out before we start scheduling Angel appointments next month. We have a fun assortment of tutus available and Caroline has been busy all week creating colorful wings to go with them. We'll be posting some of these model images next Monday. You're going to love them!

Sorry we couldn't use every child whose Mom called - but do keep checking back with us. There are many sets that we will be doing in the future that we will need models for. Right now, I still need a little girl about the age of 4 or 5 for our upcoming Father's Day Promotion.

Want a fast and simple recipe that will warm you up on these freezing days we are having. This one is extra yummy.

Spicy Bean Soup

1 can spicy refried beans
1 can whole kernel corn, drained
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can chicken broth
1 can stewed tomatoes, cut up
1 can 4 oz chopped green chilies
1/4 cup salsa

Optional: add 1/2 pound browned ground beef

In a large saucepan, combine the first 8 ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 8 to 10 minutes or until heated through. Serve with tortilla chips. Yield: 8 servings

(we had a Masquerade Ball that night) I usually cover at least one night for Idaho Ballet to use for advertising, but since there was not a CD available for purchase this year, I had many Moms request the opportunity to purchase whatever I was able to capture.
